A new member for ELDICO's Scientific Advisory Board
Prof. Dr. Jeroen van Bokhoven, Associate Professor of Heterogeneous Catalysis in the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biology of ETH Zurich and Head of the Laboratory for Catalysis and Sustainable Chemistry at Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) has recently joined our advisory board. His affiliation complements the existing board in the area of heterogeneous catalysis. “The continued development and application of electron diffraction is particularly important, because it enables structural analysis of individual crystals that are too small to be measured by X-ray diffraction”, says van Bokhoven upon his appointment. ELDICO's scientific advisory board seats some of the very pioneers in the field of electron diffraction in order to ensure that the first dedicated device of its own meets the demand of future users in science and industry.
So, what is the deal with ED in the industry sector?
Dr. Bernd Hinrichsen, the speaker for our next webinar on ED (for which you can register below), leverages his remarkable experience to discuss the technique through pragmatic lenses. We asked several questions about his take on the issue.Read more
Must-have resources on electron diffraction
Electron diffraction is not only one of the most rapidly evolving fields in chemistry and crystallography, but it is also here to stay, as research proves. The interest for ED in the last couple of years has increased. Check our interesting resources on the topic. Read more
About Eldico
ELDICO Scientific AG (The Electron Diffraction Company) is a Swiss hardware company founded in 2019 and based in the Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), a globally leading Swiss research institute for natural and engineering sciences. ELDICO develops, manufactures and sells novel instruments for electron diffraction in crystallography, enabling nanocrystalline solid state analysis in the sub-micrometer range. Specific instruments are not yet available on the market today. ELDICO will be launching the first instrument specifically designed for nano-crystallographic investigations. The proof of concept was achieved in 2018 (ETH Zurich, C-CINA Basel) as part of a Nano-Argovia project of the Swiss Nanoscience Institute (SNI) on scientifically and industrially relevant samples. It was published in 2018 and awarded as a Top 5 "Breakthrough of the Year 2018" by leading scientific journal SCIENCE. In 2020, ELDICO took second place in the competition for the prestigious pioneer prize awarded by Technopark Zurich and the Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB). www.eldico-scientific.com
